Several essential oils are effective deodorising agents, and can be used in room sprays to neutralise cooking, smoking or other domestic odours, as well as in baths for personal hygiene. One or two firms making plant-based products offer deodorant sprays made with essential oils.
The most effective deodorising essential oil is Bergamot, though Lavender, Neroli, Juniper, Cypress, Thyme and Sage can be used. Bergamot has the advantage of a delicious fragrance of its own, which is fresh and citrussy and acceptable in use to both men and women.
